Privacy &
cookies.
What this site stores on your device, why it stores it, and how to change your mind in two clicks.
This notice describes what Great Value stores on your device and why. Accounts and sign-in are handled by Firebase Authentication, so your password is never seen or stored by this website. Payments are not open yet; when they are, card details will be handled entirely by the payment provider and will never reach our servers.
The short version
- Strictly necessary storage keeps your bag and your cookie choice. It is always on, because the shop cannot work without it.
- Everything else (preferences, analytics, marketing) is off until you say otherwise.
- Your choice is remembered for 180 days and can be changed at any moment from the footer.
- Nothing you type into a form on this site is transmitted anywhere.
- Accounts are handled by Firebase Authentication. Your password goes to Google, never to us, and we never see it.
Cookies we use
| Name | Category | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| gv_consent | Strictly necessary | Records which categories of cookie you have permitted, so we do not ask again on every page. | 180 days |
| gv_cart_v1 | Strictly necessary | Local storage, not a cookie. Holds the pieces in your bag between visits on this device. | Until cleared |
| firebase:authUser | Strictly necessary | Local storage, not a cookie. The sign-in token issued by Firebase Authentication, which keeps you signed in between visits. It contains no password. | Until you sign out |
| gv_products_cache_v1 | Strictly necessary | Local storage. The last catalogue we loaded, so the shop still shows products if the connection drops. It holds no personal data. | Until cleared |
| gv_prefs | Preferences | Remembers your region and preferred size system so you do not set them each visit. | 180 days |
| gv_visit | Analytics | An anonymous session marker used to count visits. Contains no name, email or device fingerprint. | 1 day |
| gv_campaign | Marketing | Would record which campaign brought you here, so we know which letters are worth writing. | 90 days |
The categories, explained
Strictly necessary
These make the shop function: keeping your bag between pages, holding your consent decision, and basic security. They cannot be switched off, and they never contain anything about you as a person.
Preferences
Small conveniences. Your country, your size system, the pieces you have looked at recently. Turn them off and the site still works. It simply forgets you between visits.
Analytics
Aggregated counts of which pages and products people spend time on. We use it to decide what to make more of. Analytics are not connected to any third party at the moment; the cookie is set and read on this site only.
Marketing
Measures whether a campaign brought you here, and lets us show our own collections rather than something bought at random from an ad network. We do not sell data to anyone, ever.
Changing or withdrawing consent
Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page, or the button above. Turning a category off deletes the cookies in that category immediately, so you do not need to clear anything by hand. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, which resets the site to its first-visit state and asks you again.
Accounts and sign-in
You can browse and fill a bag without an account; one is only needed to check out, because a real order has to be attached to a person for delivery and for your order history. Creating an account stores your name and email address with Firebase Authentication, which is Google's service running on their servers. Your password is handled entirely by them: we never receive it, store it or see it.
Signing in with Google returns your name, email address and profile picture, and nothing else. We never receive or see your Google password.
Data we would hold in a real shop
If this were the live Great Value store, an order would mean holding your name, delivery address, email and order history for as long as the law requires us to keep sales records. Payment details would be handled by the payment provider and never touch our servers. You would be able to ask for a copy of everything we hold, or ask us to erase it, by writing to us.
